I used to draw a lot as a kid. I found this in my parent’s garage over the weekend. I’ve been a diehard Smashing Pumpkins fan for over 20 years, and in 1994 I decided to draw the Spin magazine cover but add my face to the picture. That is supposed to be 16-year-old me next to D’arcy and Billy Corgan.

“On the new album, I was really picky about Northern Downpour. It was the most meaningful song, and I wanted him (Brendon) to sound as if he wrote it. It was about touring and girlfriends and love and everything that’s been important to us in the past few years. There’s a line in the song that goes, ‘I know the world’s a broken bone, but melt your headaches, call it home.’ I told Brendon to pay special attention to that line.”
